The Swedish Association for the History of Religion (SSRF) strives to be the main scholarly forum for the Academic study of religions in Sweden and it is the national association with representation in the EASR and IAHR. The SSRF follows the mission statements of both the EASR and IAHR which means it promotes activities that contribute to the historical, social, and comparative study of religion. As such, SSRF is a forum for the critical, analytical and cross-cultural study of religion, past and present. The SSRF is not a forum for confessional, apologetic, or other similar concerns.

Membership is open for scholars and teachers, Ph.D. students and students, as well as other interested people, within the fields of History of Religion, Psychology of Religion, Sociology of Religion and other related fields that are concerned with research in relevant areas according to the above mentioned mission statement.

The membership journal is Chaos, printed and distributed by Museum Tusculanum.
